RavenSays

About RavenSays

RavenSays is a guessing game of lateral puzzles. You get the teaser of a case, ask yes or no questions and work out what really happened. A raven answers.

The idea

A lateral puzzle normally needs someone who knows the solution and answers honestly. RavenSays replaces that person with the raven: it knows the solution, always has time and answers only Yes, No, Partly or Doesn't matter.

How the raven works

Behind the raven is a language model. It receives your question and the solution of the case and picks exactly one word from a fixed list. The sentence you then read is assembled by our software. So the model writes no free text. That is why it cannot blurt out the solution by accident, and why the answers are the same in German and English.

Whether a solution is right is not decided by the model alone. It matches your attempt against the essential points of the case, and our software checks that all of them are named. The solutions are kept apart from the other data and leave the server only once a case is solved or given up.

The cases

All cases are our own texts, not card texts from other games. There are three levels of difficulty and four tones, from warm through absurd to dark, and the tone is shown before you open a case. A case should surprise, not torment.

What it costs

The case of the week is free and playable without signing in, last week's case with a free account. Every other case opens with a subscription.
